The 2B Sure system does not need any direct contact with the hull. It is easy to transport and the only contact with the vessel is through it’s connection to the power source. The system can be operated using either a 240V or 12V power supply. The power requirement is minimal and a small battery powered by a small solar panel is all that is required when using the 12V system.

The complete set-up consists of a control unit, two copper electrodes three power cables and requires two lengths of rope to suspend the electrodes into the water.

The system functions as follows:
The electrodes are suspended just below the waterline, one from the bow and one from the stern. They are connected to a control unit which, once activated,feeds electrical current into the anodes thus releasing copper ions into the water.These ions distribute evenly forming a cloud with a radius of up to 20 metres in sea water water.
This cloud creates an under water environment which prevents the growth of micro organisms The 2B Sure system works independently of the hull to be protected.
This means it works well on any hull material and has no effect on zinc anodes.

The environmentally friendly aspects of this system were tested by the Royal Dutch Institute of Marine Biology Research (NIOZ), who confirmed that the elements that are released into the water through the copper electrodes have no damaging effect on the environment.

Maintenance of the system consists of the periodic replacement of the copper electrodes. The lifespan of these is determined by the environment and the frequency of their use. Generally, replacement is not required for several years.

The strength of the ions can be regulated from the control unit with a field density of between 20% and 100%. The control unit also monitors the
set-up, and any malfunction will be indicated through an alarm system, which also indicates when the electrodes need changing.

(Dutch Rescue Service) in Breskens who have been able to double the amount of time between haul outs

The innovative 2B Sure antifouling system works on any hull material and features two electrodes which are suspended just below the waterline, one at the bow and one at the stern. These are connected to a control box, which sends an electrical current to the anodes and releases a limited cloud of copper ions into the water. These do not harm sea life or the environment. The movement of the ions along the electrical field within the water prevents fouling - the growth of barnacles, mussels and other forms of unwanted organic matter that can seriously affect boat speed, performance and fuel consumption.

The system is simple to install and operates on AC, 12V or Solar power. Minimal power is used and the field density and strength of the ions can be adjusted from the control box.

A single 2B Sure antifouling system is sufficient for MONO HUL boats of up to 20 metres long. For bigger craft o catamarans, two or more systems can be used together.
